Cowart's Construction Company has worked throughout the nation for the past 25 years on construction projects for the telephone industry. Some recent work done by Cowart's has been in Flippin for Northern Arkansas Telephone Company and at Cherokee Village and Melbourne for Century Telephone Co.

Cowart's owns a fleet of backhoes, track hoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, rock saws, rock hammers and additional specialized heavy equipment which allows them to undertake a wide variety of projects. President James R. "Rick" Cowart says if equipment is needed that the company doesn't own, they will get what they need to do the job. Currently, Cowart's Construction has approximately 100 employees and completes multi-million dollar contracts annually.

"We will bid on jobs and offer quotes to homeowners, developers, businesses and governmental units on work large and small," Cowart says. "Our experience is extensive and we are pleased to be adding this division. We feel the area's demand for this work is sufficient to expand our operation."

The company can handle earth moving projects "small to huge" such as excavations, trenching, rock removal, dirt hauling, building driveways and yards, and boring under roadways. "We saw, break and bore large or small rocks," Cowart says.

"We can build a yard and clean it up better than anybody! We even coordinate landscaping," Cowart says. Initially, Cowart's consumer and public works division will be operating in Baxter, Fulton, Sharp, Marion and Izard counties.
